Path of Exile 3.8 Blight League Mechanics

As usual, the POE 3.8.0 Expansion introduces the game's next three-month challenge league - POE 3.8 Blight, which offers some new tower defense-style gameplay to the usual dungeon crawling action.

Build Tower Defence To Stop Mind-Controlling Blight & Win Rewards

In Path of Exile: Blight, dangerous Fungal began to appear across Wraeclast's cursed continent, threatening men and animals. With the help of the new NPC Sister Cassia, you are tasked with destroying this threat of Fungal Growths to stop the spread of the deadly Blight. Cassia has built a specialized pump for the task, but as her pump pulls out the toxic Fungal, monsters of every kind emerge to defend Blight. These creatures are particularly resilient. Luckily, Cassia has also created a range of towers (Chill, Shock, Stun, Burn, Summon, Empower, Petrify and Debilitate) that you can deploy to help protect your pump. The monsters follow the stalks of Blight without thinking, attacking only the enemies that are in its path. Those infected are unusually strong, so you'll have to build defensive towers to exploit the specific weaknesses of each monster.

Blight combines the frenetic action of Path of Exile combat with the strategic fun of tower defense games. Different towers can aim for different monster weaknesses, so players will need to be wary of what types of monsters are attacking and how to stop those specific waves. To successfully defeat Blight, you'll have to make decisions right now, stay on top of your environment, and plan for the future. Defending Cassia's pump successfully will reward you with valuable weapons and armor, and special oils that Cassia can use to anoint her rings and amulets with powerful enchantments.

Clear Blighted Maps For More Rewards

Endgame maps will include Blight encounters that pack up to 24 different tendrils. You won't find many Blight encounters over the course of your game, and only one of these encounters for each map. They'll mostly be micro encounters, enough to offer a diversion, but not disrupt the normal Path of Exile experience. But while these battles are short, they'll be plenty rewards, as players can earn new items to help bolster their inventory.

PoE 3.8 Blight Oils - Enchant Jewellery & Anointable Unique Item

Along with Blight's tower defense gameplay, plenty new reward items are introduced into the game, and the highlight one is the Blight yields Oils, which can be combined to add properties to items. Go to Sister Cassia and use a combination of them to anoint unique pieces, rings, or amulets. There are 12 tiers of oil in total that ascend in rarity, different combinations yield different results. And three oils of one type can be combined at the vendor to upgrade it to the next level.

Path of Exile 3.8.0 Expansion (POE 3.8 Blight League) - Blight yields Oils

  • Enchant Rings: Combine two Oils to enchant a Ring with a potent tower modifier.

  • Enchant Amulets: Combine three Oils to enchant your Amulet with any Notable Passive Skill from the Skill Tree.

  • Enchant Unique Items: Four of the Unique Items exclusive to the Blight league form an armour set that can also be anointed with Notable Passives. Combined with an anointed Amulet, the wearer of this set can have up to five bonus Notable Passives active at once, unlocking countless new build possibilities.

PoE 3.8 Atlas of Worlds Master Missions Changed

One of Path of Exile's core game philosophies is to allow players to play the way they want. So let's change the way Masters missions are given in the Path of Exile endgame, the Atlas of Worlds. Before, players could encounter any of the five masters at any given moment and be tasked with doing rewarding but challenging missions. This was problematic as players had to engage with a lengthy mission then and there – leaving a potential friend they were playing with behind. Now players are no longer forced to run every Master Mission as soon as you encounter it, can defer Master encounters and get to them at their earliest convenience, so you can play them at your own pace and on any Atlas map you like. Players can also hand them whatever map they'd like to apply their mission to, rather than leave it up to random chance.

PoE 3.8 New Archetypes, New Skill Gems, New Support Gems
