hi guys, for poe gamers clearly understanding more complicated making gears methods to get more great top gears and gems level gears cheaply. i will show my experiences about it.

1. number of affixes

normal items have no affix

magic items have one or both of a prefix and a suffix

rare items may have max 3 prefixes or max 3 suffixes

unique items that how many prefixes or suffixes depend on game settings

2. affix restriction

not all affixes can appear on all poe gears, for example speed affixes only appear on boots.

3. affix level limit

some affixes appear on poe items which depend on their levels.

4. quality first, then affix

normal items of which add 20% the quality need 4 blacksmith's whetstone or armourer's scrap.

magic items of which add 20% the quality need 10 blacksmith's whetstone or armourer's scrap.

rare items of which add 20% the quality need 20 blacksmith's whetstone or armourer's scrap.

unique items of which add 20% the quality need 4 blacksmith's whetstone or armourer's scrap.

5. socket colors and number

- one-handed weapons/shields whose the maximum number of sockets is 3.

- quivers sockets are 0.

- two-handed weapons whose the maximum number of sockets is 6.

- helmets, gloves, and boots whose the maximum number of sockets is 4.

- body armours whose the maximum number of sockets is 6.

- there are another rules you should see.

socket colors are green, blue and red.

green means dexterity

blue means intelligence

red means strength

tip：if poe items are used just need strength, whose most sockets color are red. a mix attribute item makes it easy to get all colors.
