path of exile legion beginner guide - poe 3.7 combat tips

- pick up your first skill gem.

- change the default attack to move only.

- plan your build around a primary skill.

- almost all of your other skills should supplement the primary skill.

- use your flasks.

when it comes to the general combat in poe legion, if you killed the zombie and pick up your first skill gem, make sure you have your skill open up, you don't need a default attack (left click), because the basic attacks have no gems and never used, change default attack to move only. the second thing you need to do is socket your skill, the combat mechanic is basically you have a primary skill and a bunch of secondary skill to support it. if you get low health and you have a health flask or life flasks, use the health flask you can see. there are tons of flasks in the game, use your flasks very consistently because how the charge system works in path of exile is killing monsters, you will get charges on your flask, 1 kill for 1 charge, so the more monsters you kill, the more often your flask will be up and the more often you can use your flasks, which means that you don't go back to town to refill them

path of exile legion beginner guide - poe 3.7 class choice & ascendancy

- any poe legion class can do anything.

- different classes have different starting location on passive skill tree and base-stat value.

- choose whichever class you want and experiment with the skills you like.

there is no restriction on what a class can do, any class of marauder, ranger, witch, templar, shadow, duelist, and scion can use any skill, weapon, piece of armor and more, now there is one exception and it's how well each class does everything, for the most part, you can do anything you want on any character at any time, now there are restrictions to what you can use and when you can use it, coming in the form of your base set, each character has strength, intelligence and dexterity 3 base set, your starting class only determines the value of your base tests also your starting place on the skill tree, the class you choose does not really affect anything you can do in the game.

ascendancy classes are subclasses that grant access to an ascendancy skill tree specific for the character class chosen. each class has three choices except for the scion who only has one, which is ascendant. a highly recommended tool called path of building, it gives you a big overview with the skill tree and you can see exactly what you want to do but it also shows you all of your choices for ascendancy classes. check out woolie's video on youtube for download and more details.

path of exile legion beginner guide - poe 3.7 skill gems

- more links mean more useful.

- 6 links only on two-handed weapons and body armor, rest have up to 4 links.

- put gems into the same color socket.

- few first characters will be rough.

- use a poe legion beginner's build guide.

you can't put in a gem into a different color socket, they have to match, you could put it in doesn't mean it'll actually do anything, make sure you read the gem completely and pay attention to the tags. you're not going to do a lot of damage and you will get frustrated in those cases, so you'd better find a beginner's guide and it'll help a lot in your first character.

path of exile legion beginner guide - poe 3.7 passive skill tree

- the small border is a notable skill, the big border is the keystone.

- take life nodes and damage nodes.

if you are a new player, you have to take the life notes, anything to do with maximum life, an alternative if energy shield, but new characters are recommended to stay away from energy shield, each character in the game can play with life as their health pool, in addition, if you don't deal with damage then stuff will just hit you until you die and then therefore all your life is meaningless in the first place, so it's a balance between finding a good amount of life and damage, so the best way should be getting damage out of the passive tree is to pick an archetype for your character.
